Artist Biography

Bill Zaun

As with most artists, I have been drawing and making art since I was a young boy in Iowa. There I spent my days exploring the natural world around me in the fields and forests surrounding my neighborhood.

As long as I can remember, I have been interested in the natural sciences and in crafts of all kinds.

In my twenties, I studied metalworking, leather-working, and carving.

About that time, I began a serious study of art history and have continued this study to the present day.

I taught myself the craft of technical illustration and by the mid 1980’s was doing drawings for magazines such as Better Homes and Gardens, Wood Magazine, Woodworker’s Journal and many others.

Recently, I finished illustrations for the textbook “Basic Veterinary Immunology” published by The University Press in Boulder, CO.

I have exhibited paintings, drawings, and woodcuts locally andfor many years.
